Ethiopia / Soils, 1989-
My career in advertising photography was brought to its conclusion by a job in Ethiopia. I was offered the chance to conceptualize and photograph a book about the daily life of an Ethiopian farming community and its fight against soil erosion. The project involved intense cooperation with my Ethiopian co-author, who developed the narrative in Amharic, the Ethiopian national language.
At the end of the book project, I was entrusted with the administrative oversight of the Soil Conservation Research Program that produced the book. This job was based in Switzerland and brought me back to the environmental sciences.
